USAGA has been advancing the women empowerment agenda through Uganda Women Birders a Club that was started in 2013 to bridge the gender inequality gap with in the guiding service in the Tourism Sector. Tourist guiding is a growing service in Tourism and Hospitality, and there is no better person for the job than a Woman.
With more female tourists visiting the country and demanding to be guided by women, we hope to keep extending the arms of the Club across the country and all Tourism sites.
This Month we celebrated the achievements and good strides the Club has taken over the last 6 years. The last six years has seen members of the club leading tours and start Tour companies that are extending tour and travel services to tourists visiting Uganda. Uganda Women Birders Club has been a leader in Africa and has inspired the creation of Rwanda Women Birders and most recently Kenya Women Birders this March and inspired women in the United states, Canada, USA, Germany, Panama to build platforms that uplift and inspire women to become tourist guides.
We thank our partners in government and in the private sector that have contributed to the growth of the Club including but not limited to Uganda Wildlife Authority, Uganda Tourism Board, Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities, Bird Uganda Safaris and women from the United States who have offered what they could to build the capacity of our women. We’re open to more partnerships and collaborations interested entities in government and private sector to continue supporting capacity building for Women.
The Uganda Safari Guides Association invites all women to join the association as we build the leading professional safari guides in Africa.
